2008-10-05 世界史における北京オリンピックの意義
_ 表記のシンポジウムが，１０月３日（金）の午後４時３０分から午後７時３０分まで，札幌大学のペリフェリア文化学研究所主催で開催された。
シンポジストは，いつものメンバーである西谷修，今福龍太の両氏にわたしが加わった３人。これで５回目にもなるので，お互いに呼吸がわかっているとはいえ，やはり，緊張する。しかも，議論の主題がどこに飛んでいくかもわからないし，いつ終わるともしれない長時間の議論がつづくのである。最初のころはクタクタになった。今回も，慣れたとはいえ，本質的にはクタクタだ。こういう緊張の場に身をおくことによって，これまでずいぶんと鍛えてもらってきた。まだまだ，このお二人には遠く及ばないが，しかし，ある程度は土俵の上に残っていられるようになってきた。もっともっと稽古をつんで，少しでも長く相撲がとれるようになりたいものだ。
わたしは，いつものように，二人の横綱の胸を借りるつもりで，草稿を用意した。ちょうど，これまで４回ものシンポジウムを重ねてきて，それらをまとめて単行本にしようという企画が進んでおり，そのための「プロローグ」をわたしが担当することになっていたので，その下書き原稿を草稿として用いることにした。今回のシンポも，これまでの４回のシンポを引き受けながら，さらに，つぎなる展望を探ろうというものだったので，ちょうど，タイミングもよかったと思う。
わたしの提出した草稿は「近代スポーツのミッションは終わったか−−＜透明なる身体＞の行方，というもの。これは「プロローグ」の見出しタイトルとして用いた題名であるが，できれば，これを本のタイトルにしたいというのがわたしの下心。キリスト教文化圏で誕生した近代スポーツのミッションは，スポーツの一元化とそれによる世界制覇にあった，と指摘した上で，このミッションは思いもよらない副産物まで生み出し，ついには，ドーピング問題をひき起こすにいたった，と。そして，ついには，ヨーロッパ近代の論理とは相容れない論理をもつ中国でオリンピックが開催されることとなり，まことに不思議な現象はわたしたちは目の当たりにすることになった。
とまあ，こんな書き出しで，いくつかの問題提起をしてみた。そうしたら，今福さんが「ミッション」ということばづかいに反応してくれ，ミッションはそもそもインポッシブルでなくてはいけない，とした上でいつもの今福節を展開してくださった。そして，二人の話を引き受けるようにして，西谷さんが「いったいスポーツとはなにか，とついつい考えずにはいられない」とみずからを規程しながら，すばらしいスポーツ哲学を展開してくれた。
これらの内容はいずれ，活字になってまとめられることになっている。瀧元さんの手を煩わせることになるが，いまから楽しみではある。
ただ，残念なことに，札幌大学主催という形でのシンポはこれが最後になるとのこと。どこの大学もいまは経費節減の時代に入り，こうした素晴らしい文化事業が姿を消していくことになる。ということであれば，どこかで別の形態をとって，こうしたシンポジウムを継続していくことを企画しなくてはなるまい。

あらためまして研究会ではお世話になりました。<br>研究会開催については、現在既存のフォーラム・講演会・研究所を発展的統合（という名の縮小）する議論が進んでいます。<br>これまでは計画と報告書をきちんと提出していたので、信頼を得て自由に企画設定できていたのですが、いいもの（と自負しています）も、そうでもないものも一緒に改革の名の下に削減対象にされてしまっています。<br>無益な交渉はしたくないので、まずは動きを静観して、正当に新しい企画を立てたいと思っています。<br>むしろ今後は個人研究的なものでなく、学外研究者との共同研究の方が好まれるようになる雰囲気もあります。<br>その意味では、もしかすると比較的早い段階で継続した企画を運営できるかもしれません。<br>なんとか画策したいと思います。<br><br>それでも、これまでの企画としては一段落として、新しい形態を模索したいと思います。<br>私自身も能力を付けなければなりませんし・・・。<br><br>何よりも「こんな終わり方になるとは・・・」と、残念がられるのは心苦しいものがあります。<br>頑張りますので、ご期待もしていて下さい。<br><br>この度は、本当にありがとうございました。<br>そして、お疲れさまでした。
