2009-08-30 竹内敏晴さんの「八月の祝祭」をみてきた。
_ 突然，三井悦子さんから電話が入り，三鷹（東京）で竹内先生の「八月の祝祭」という公演があるので上京するという。わたしも便乗してみてきた。
三井さんは竹内レッスンの常連さんなので別格として，わたしは初めての経験。毎年１回，東京で開催される竹内レッスンの重要なイベントのひとつだという。どんなステージになるのだろうかといささか緊張する。
ステージは第一部と第二部の二部構成。
第一部は，「からだとことばの公開レッスン」。幕が上がったステージには車椅子に坐った竹内さん。すっかり痩せていらっしゃるので，びっくり仰天。あの元気はつらつとされている，いつもの竹内さんではない。つづいてご挨拶された声が，いつもの竹内さんのものではない。かすれた，弱々しい声である。ご挨拶の要旨は以下のとおり。
「さきほど，リハーサルをやろうとしたのですが，とてもできる状態ではないということがわかりました。まことに申し訳ないですが，公開レッスンは割愛させてください。その代わりといってはなんですが，わたしのこども時代に出会った『ぎんぎんぎらぎら』という唱歌をみなさんで唄っていただいて，第二部に入りたいと思います。この歌の『ぎんぎんぎらぎら』ということばがわたしのこども心に強烈な印象を残しました。なんと美しいことばなんだろうと。夕日を表現するのに，こんなことばがあるなんて，と感動しました。ですので，みなさん，できるだけ大きな声で唄ってください。」
舞台と会場とがひとつになって，しかも，みんな童心にかえったように，大きな声で唄いました。わたしもすっかりこどもに還っていました。竹内さんは車椅子に坐ったまま静に耳を傾けていらっしゃいました。そのお姿がとても印象に残りました。と同時に，えもいわれぬ感情がわたしの胸を去来しました。
第二部は『冗談じゃないよサロイヤンさん，民主主義だって？』
こちらは，竹内レッスンを受けていらっしゃるお弟子さんたちによる「演劇」でした。全部で８部構成になっていて，それぞれに重いテーマを抱え込んだものばかりでした。「サロイヤンさん」とは，ウィリアム・サローヤンのことで，なぜか，劇中では「サロイヤンさん」と呼ばれていました。サローヤンといえば，わたしの友人のひとりである内藤誠（映画監督）さんの手になる翻訳もたくさんあって，わたしは内藤さんから送られてきた本をとおして，ある程度，おなじみの人でした。しかし，今回，とりあげられた作品は「２２０ヤード 低ハードル」というサローヤンの詩をもとに，脚本が書かれたということでした。わたしは残念ながら，この「２２０ヤード 低ハードル」という作品を知りませんでした。でも，サローヤンという作家が，どの作品でも言い続けていたこと，つまり，人間として生きるということの意味，という点では通底していましたので，わたしには理解しやすい題材でした。「頭がいいとか悪いとか，そんなことはどうでもいい。金持ちであるとか貧乏であるとか，そんなことはどうでもいい。大事なことは，ひとりの人間として正直に生きているかどうか，ということだけだ」というセリフに，この演劇のすべてが集約されていたように思いました。
８部構成のテーマを挙げておきますと以下のとおりです。

○「父の話」
○「雄弁家 いとこディクラン」
○「インディアンの酋長からのアメリカ大統領への手紙」
○「水たまり」（黒井薫作）

○「奇妙な出来事」
よく知られているように，竹内レッスンに来られる人たちのなかには，こころのなかに大きな負債を背負いこんで，からだもことばも意のままにはならなくなってしまった人たちが混ざっています。そして，その人たちをはじめ，さまざまな悩みを抱え込んだ人たちのこころとからだを解き放つためのレッスンをひとつずつ積み上げていきます。そのひとつの発表の場が，今回のこの公演となっています。ですから，この演劇に出演している人たちのなかには，ふだんは吃音で，うまくセリフが言えない人も混ざっています。そういうことをすべて忘れさせてくれるような立派な舞台だったので，とても感動しました。こういう経験はわたしにとっては生まれて初めてのことでしたので，しみじみと，いろいろのことを考えてしまいました。
そして，いつのまにか，『ブラジルのホモ・ルーデンス』から伝わってくるメッセージとも通底している，とさえ思いはじめています。つまり，人が生きるということはどういうことなのか，という根源のテーマに立ち返っていく，ということでしょう。
この問題については，これからもつねに考えつづけていくことになるでしょう。スポーツ文化論のひとつの重要なポイントですから。
最後に，竹内敏晴さんの，一刻も早いご回復をお祈りしながら，このブログを閉じたいと思います。
