2010-02-01 映画『Ｄｒ．パルナサスの鏡』をみる。
_ ある仕事の関係で，いま話題の映画『Ｄｒ．パルナサスの鏡』をみてきた。なんともはや，不可解な映画だった。
昨日から急遽，予定を変更してＤＶＤビデオや映画をみて，これを７７０字で評論するという苦行と取り組んでいる。困ったものだ。困るのは字数の少なさ。あまりに少なすぎる。でも，これが書けないようなら，文章を書くことをあきらめるしかない，という覚悟で取り組んでいる。挑戦である。
昨日のマイケルの方は，なんとか書けるという目処がついた。しかし，今日のこの映画は困ったものだ。わたしに感動がない。あまりに多くのことを詰め込みすぎて，なにがいいたいのかわけがわからない，という印象。ちょうど，鍋料理に，魚も肉も貝もおでんも蟹も海老もと具沢山にした上に，調味料も醤油に塩に味噌に・・・という具合に入れ込み，結局，この料理のメインはなにか，わけがわからない，というような状態である。なんでこんなに欲張ったのだろう，と首を傾げてしまう。しかも，すごいテンポの速さでテーマがつぎつぎに切り替わってしまう。おまけに，価値観も複合的に組み合わされているから，なおのこと錯綜してしまって，わけがわからなくなる。
映画を見終わっても，しばらくはだれも立とうとはしない。電灯がついて明るくなったのに，ざわざわと話し声が聞こえてくる。みんな，わけがわからないという顔をして，お互いの感想を確認し合っている。この情景がとても面白かったので，しばらく，この様子を眺めていた。やはり，納得がいかない，という顔はいつまでも消えない。お前もか，おれもだ，という顔が圧倒的に多い。場所は，六本木の森ビルのすぐ横にある東急シネマ。まあ，言ってみれば，いま東京の中心にあるもっとも旬な人気スポット。もっとも，午後１時からこの映画を見に来る人種がどのような人たちなのかは一考を要するところ。でも，一見したところ，身なりもいいし，顔だちも悪くない若者たち。中年以上の人はちらほら。あとは若い男女。恋人同志だったら，この映画をみたあと，どんな会話をすることになるのだろうか。わたしが当事者だったら，困ってしまう，と思う。
一般に流れている映画評では，ＣＧを多用した美しい場面をふんだんにちりばめたファンタジー映画，ということになっている。しかし，美しいなぁ，と思った情景はほんのわずかだけ。あとは，子供騙しのＣＧテクニック。それよりもなによりも，見終わったあとの後味が悪い。せっかくの恋人とのデートもぶち壊しである。あの男女たちは，あのあとどうしたのだろうか，と気がかりである。
なぜなら，映画の中味にちょっとだけ触れておけば，つぎのようだから。
映画の主人公Ｄｒ．パルナサスは，悪魔と契約して不死を手に入れる。その代わりに悪魔はある賭けをして，おれが勝ったらＤｒ．パルナサスの娘をくれ，と約束する。なんだか，ゲーテの『ファウスト』の焼き直し。こちらは，命ではなくて，魂。その代わりにファウストの欲望はすべて叶えてやる，という。命と魂の違いはあるものの，その本質に変わりはない。
死を畏れる気持ちはだれにもある。しかし，だからといって不死を手に入れれば，問題が解決するかといえば，それは違う。なぜなら，死があるからこそ生が輝くのであって，不死となれば生はその意味を失ってしまう。意味がなくなる。不死なのだから。
案の定，Ｄｒ．パルナサスの生は弛緩してしまい，酒におぼれ，トランプ占いに依存する。それでいて人生には「物語」が必要だと可愛い娘に説く。Ｄｒ．パルナサスの職業は，馬車を改良したステージの上で瞑想し，かれの瞑想の世界が「鏡」の向こう側にあって，お客さんを「鏡」の向こう側に送り「エクスタシー」を体験させてお金をかせぐ，といういささか怪しげな旅芸人である。娘は旅芸人の世界から逃げ出して，ふつうのマイホームで暮らすことを夢見ている。そこに，さまざまな怪しげな登場人物がからんで映画は複雑な展開をしていく。しかも，現実と非現実が交錯したり，あの世とこの世が入れ替わったり，佛教的な浄土の世界にメフィストフェレスばりの悪魔が押しかけてきたり，善と悪，慈善と偽善，政治と暴力，息子と母，二者択一の選択（一種の賭け），等々のテーマが矢継ぎ早やに展開する。それでもなお，弁護しておけば，近代の階層秩序的二項対立的なものの見方・考え方は人生にとってほとんどなんの意味もないのだよ，と言っているかのようでもある。それは，映画の最後のところで「二者択一」を迫られたＤｒ．パルサナスが，「おれはもうどちらも選ばない」と，まるで禅者のようなセリフを吐くところにも現れている。
このようにわたしなりの読解を試み，整理してはみるものの，わたし自身がいま一つ納得がいかないのである。しかも，もう一度，みてみるか，と問われたら「ノー・サンキュー」と答えるだろう。わたしの映画評からすれば，駄作。お薦めもしない。見てもほとんど意味がない。それよりなにより，感動の場面が一つもない。なんなのだ，この映画は・・・。というのが正直なわたしの感想。
