2009-09-06 山田詠美著『学問』を読む。

_ エイミーこと山田詠美の『学問』が面白い。エイミーの久々の傑作。彼女でなければ書けないエイミー・ワールド満開の作品。

名古屋での三日間が濃密だっただけに，その反動というべきか，わたしの頭はまったく異質の刺激を欲しがっている。その欲望に逆らってはいけない。これはわたしの長年のポリシー。思考筋（脳細胞の筋肉のこと・わたしの造語）にも緊張と弛緩が必要なのは，スポーツマンであればだれでも知っている。しかも，ただ単に弛緩させればいいというのではなくて，異質の刺激を注入することが肝腎だ。たとえば，大胸筋の疲労を取り除くには，ただ単に弛緩させておけばいいというものではないことは，スポーツマンならだれでも知っているとおりだ。大胸筋に別種の軽い刺激を与えた方がはるかに早く疲労がとれる。それと同じだ。

そのための特効薬が，わたしにとってはエイミーちゃんの小説を読むことだ。これももうわたしの長年の慣習行動（ブルデュー）となりつつある。といいつつ，エイミーちゃんの小説を読むことを正当化する。なぜなら，エイミーちゃんの小説を読むという慣習行動については，いささか後ろめたさをともなうからだ。かつて，エイミーちゃんは『跪いてわたしの足をお舐め』というＳＭクラブの女王さまを主人公にした小説で衝撃的なデビューをした。そのときから，エイミーちゃんを読むという行為そのものが，わたしのなかには密やかな「後ろめたさ」がともなうようになってしまっている。なにもそこまで考えなくてもいいのに・・・。エイミーちゃんの名誉のためにも断っておくが，彼女の小説は世間でいうところの卑猥な内容を含んでいるが，それでいて，あるいは，それだからこそ，まことにすばらしく奥が深いのだ。それは，まことに「哲学的」ですらある。

こんどの『学問』という作品もそうだ。「私ねぇ，欲望の愛弟子なの」という，このたったひとことを書き残すために，エイミーちゃんはこの小説を書いたといってもいい。「欲望の愛弟子」とは，また，よくも言ったものだ。「欲望」というものを学ぶ「学問」にたいして「私」はこれほどまでに忠実なのである。しかも，ここでいう「欲望」とは「性の欲望」，すなわち「性欲」のことだ。

小学校２年生の女の子が鉄棒にまたがって坐ったとき，おしっこをもらしたかと，はっとする体験をする。しかし，おしっこをもらしたわけではない。では，あのときの感覚はなんであったのか，というところからはじまって，少しずつ股間に仕掛けられた謎解きがはじまる。この謎解きのためにさまざまな創意工夫をしながら，少女は少しずつ成長していく。あるとき，ざぶとんを股間にはさんで芋虫遊びをする。すると不思議な快感が全身をかけめぐる。これはいったいなにごとかと驚く。こうして彼女の「学問」は次第に深みをましていく。

小学校２年生から高校２年生にいたるまでの成長過程をとおして，この少女とその仲間たち（男の子も）の「イタ・セクス・アリス」が描かれる。こどもから少女へ，そして女性へと成長するにしたがって，ますます複雑に分節化していく「性」の仕組みと機能を，ここまで微細に，あるいは精緻に描ききった作品を知らない。この年齢にして初めて知った女性の「性」の不可思議さ，これはまさに「学問」の名に値する。

エイミーちゃんが，あえて，この作品に「学問」という名を与えたことの意味はここにある，と言っていいだろう。ヒトが人になるための，もっとも重要な「学問」を，近代のアカデミズムは忌避してきた。その証拠に，この分野を専門とする「学問」が存在しない。存在するのは，まったく異なる科学的なパラダイムによって専門分化した「学問」でしかない。しかし，それらの「学問」をかき集めたところで，メスが女の子になり，その女の子が「性」にめざめ，そのなんたるかもわからないまま，なかば「怯え」ながらも，魅了されていく，そして，さまざまに揺れ動きながら「初体験」をするまでのひとりの女性の「性と生」を学ぶための「学問」にはなりえない。その意味で，エイミーちゃんは科学万能時代を生きる現代という時代への痛烈な批判を，この「学問」というタイトル（ネーミング）に籠めているといってよいだろう。

なぜ，このことに，わたしがこれほどこだわるのか。この問題はそっくりそのまま「スポーツ科学」に当てはまるからだ。つまり，「スポーツ科学」はスポーツマンやトップ・アスリートにとってまことに重要な貢献はしているものの，けして「充分」とは言えないからだ。ひとりの生きる人間にとって「スポーツとはなにか」という問いには答えてくれない。ましてや，幼児が児童になり，少年／少女となり，やがて青年（男女）へと成長していく，悩み多き生身の人間の側に立つ「スポーツとはなにか」という問いにたいして，あまりにも条件つきの応答しかなしえていない。だから，わたしはそれらを超克するための新しい学問としての「スポーツ学」を提唱しているのだ。

エイミーちゃん，ありがとう，とこころから感謝したい。そんな気持ちで一杯である。
