2009-09-26 『呪われた部分・有用性の限界』からのヒント
_ 昨日のブログのつづき。つまり，議論が噛み合わないことの理由はなにか，ということのヒント探し。その１．
ジョルジュ・バタイユの未完の著作『呪われた部分／有用性の限界』（ちくま学芸文庫）の２３５ページに，「本書を動かしている精神の原則と方法」という見出しタイトルで，まことに魅力的なバタイユの論考が展開されている。その前に，いろいろの前提があってこの部分の言説が導き出されることは当然である。そして，それらについての説明がほんとうは必要なのだが，それだけでこのブログが終わってしまうので，それらについては割愛させてもらう。あとで，補っておいてほしい。
ということで，いきなり議論の中核部分に突入することにする。バタイユは二つの異なる認識方法があると指摘した上で，それをつぎのように区別している。
「ひとつは認識した事物の全体を，古典的な科学のもとで描き出す方法である。もうひとつはこれとは著しく異なる方法であり，第一の世界では知られておらず，第二の世界における鍛練で獲得した経験でなければ認識できないカテゴリー，たとえば＜笑いたくなるもの＞のようなカテゴリーを使うものである。」
こんにちの世界でいえば，最先端科学によって明らかにされつつある認識の世界と，「聖なるもの」（笑いと供儀）を解きあかそうとする人類学的な認識の世界との違い，と言ってもよいだろう。バタイユは，たとえば，メキシコ・アステカ文明のなかで展開された「聖なるもの」の儀礼の分析をとおして到達する認識の世界をイメージさせながら，この二つの認識の違いを際立たせていく。そして，つぎのように提案する。
「わたしはいま，この二つの対立した認識の種類に名前をつけようと思う。客観的な認識と交感的な認識である。わたしは自分のうちで，最大限の明確さでこの二つの認識を区別した。そしてこの違いがあるという単純な事実に基づいて，わたしはこの二つの認識の間に，それまで存在しなかった接合部を確立し始めた。」
ここでバタイユがいう「客観的な認識」は「科学的な認識」に，そして「交感的な認識」が「人類学的な認識」に対応する，と考えてよいだろう。そして，この二つの認識の間に「それまで存在しなかった接合部を確立し始めた」と述べた上で，さらに，その「接合部」の存在理由について論考を展開している。その上で，「交感的な認識は客観的な認識の次元の外部にあり，しかもこの原則が解決しようとする要請の外部にある。このため，二つの次元で同時に回答が示されるような接合部を作り出すことが必要になる。この原則は，客観的な認識の言葉で表現された問いに交感的な認識の条件のもとで回答する。この二つの次元が対応することは可能であると想定されているので，そこから得られた答えを，客観的な認識の言葉に翻訳することが必要だった。笑いを説明する試みを完遂することが必要だったのである。」（２４０ページ）
このあたりのことが，一昨日の研究会での議論の「スレ違い」を生んだのだろうか，とわたしはひとりで考えている。しかし，今福さんが，繰り返し繰り返し，懇切丁寧に説明した言説は，ここでいう「客観的な認識の言葉に翻訳」されていた，とわたしは思うのだが・・・。
それとは別に，バタイユのいう「交感的な認識」という表現は，バタイユに慣れている人にとってはなんの抵抗もなく理解できてしまうところだが，不慣れな向きには不可解そのものだろう。バタイユ自身もそのことを十分に認識しているようで，わざわざ「交感的な認識の原則」という小見出しをつけた詳論を展開している。そのうちのいくつかの謎めいた文章を引用しておくと，以下のとおりである。
○この書物で採用している方法の基礎となるのは，なによりも笑い，涙，エロティシズムによる認識である。
○笑いは認識の行為である。
○わたしが笑うと，事柄の性格がみずからを裸にする。わたしは事柄の性格を知り，事柄の性格は自己をあらわにする。わたしを笑わせるのは，事柄の根底なのだ。
○笑いは内側から認識することはできない。生きられた経験とともに，笑いの存在理由を考察するような笑いの「現象学」など想像することもできない。
○わたしは，生きた経験だけからではなく，供犠，戦争，祝祭の経済，笑いのように，外部から与えられた事実だけから出発するが，それは偶然ではない。
というような言説がつづく。最後に，つぎの文章を引いて終わりにしよう。
「交感的な認識は，ほんらいの意味では，客観的なものではない。推論に基づいた認識と同じように，交感的な認識では，主体は客体によって働きかけられて，変容する。ただし，推論に基づいた認識は，この変容から出発して，孤立した対象について考えようとする。これに対して交感的な認識は，客体の認識であると同時に，この変容についての認識でもある。
ここでは主体と客体を分離することはできない。孤立した点としての対象ではなく，交流の場をみいだすべきなのだ。たしかにわたしたちは，うけとった働きかけを外部に向けて投影することはできる。これは正当な操作だ。しかし主体の変容は，交感の場の投影とはまったく区別できないものになる。」
このあとも延々と「交感的な認識」についてのバタイユの，一種独特の論考が展開している。しかも，それらはすべて「非−知」のレベルから導き出されるバタイユの真骨頂ともいうべき，きわめて魅力的な論考である。補っておいてくだされば幸いである。
